The Levern hill is one of the most valuable village centers in the area in terms of architectural history. Levern was first mentioned in a document in the year 969. In 1227 the then Bishop of Minden founded a Cistercian monastery in Levern. During the Reformation, the monastery was transformed into a free-world, noble ladies' convent. The unchanged coexistence of the monastery and the parish church from the Gothic period, the preserved layout of a Protestant ladies' monastery in the form of baroque noble curiae and monastery servants' houses justify the high monumental value of this complex. History can be seen here in the architectural monuments such as the historic double church and the curia houses. During costumed guided tours you can let yourself be taken back to the old times.
